Thoreau was right to defend the right of an individual to be out of step with the rest of society. I think that in certain ways I fit into this category. I do a lot of things my way and don't worry about whether someone else looks at me like i'm wierd or something. Like, when I put sugar on my white rice. I started doing that when I used to be at my grandma's house when I was a little kid. No one else that lives in my house does this, but I still do, because I don't care. All I care about is that it tastes good to me. I'm also into cars a lot more than any of my friends, and I don't care. I wear what I want, do what I want, and chill with who I want, and I don't care what anybody thinks. I look at it like this, I walk my own path and I don't need any tag alongs. There is a downside to this way of life though. If your to different, no one will want to be your friend. If your the only outcast like you then, everybody will look at you like your wierd. Walking to the beat of your own drum is alright, but it gets lonely if your ears are the only ones enjoying the sweet beat of the drums down a path through life.
